THE CRISIS LINE

The Crisis Line is sponsored by The Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention Centre of BC (Canada). It is a non-profit volunteer organization. It serves Vancouver, Burnaby, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, the Sunshine Coast and Power River, British Columbia, Canada.

The Centre has been going since 1969. It has more than 350 volunteers and a small staff and the organization runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It has three “core” programs:

24/7 Distress Phone Services
which offer four regional crisis lines and two 1-800-SUICIDE lines.

YouthInBC.com
is an online service for youth living in BC. This is for them to get one-on-one support with a crisis volunteer, or get email support from the professional staff, find information on different issues or connect to the referral services that are in their own communities.

Community Education
This program is workshops offered to adolescents in grades 8 to 12 in the Lower Mainland and Squamish, Whistler & Pemberton. The workshops are on suicide prevention and stress management.

Professional Development
The Centre also provides workshops to organizations across BC.
