SUPPORT FOR OUR ELDERS
The 411 Seniors Centre Society

There is a great place for our elders in downtown Vancouver. You can go to their website and find out about them www.411seniors.bc.ca

Below is some of the great services they provide

Events:
-  such as yoga, bridge, mah-jong, holistic nutrition, Chinese cooking

Leisure programs:
-  Health & Wellness (although no services right now)
-  Classes such as crafts, calligraphy, learning Mandarin, French or Spanish, ESL,
      ballroom dancing, drawing & painting, yoga, singing,
-  Trips to places within & outside of the Lower Mainland; tourist destinations,
      museums, gardens, local attractions, restaurants, parks, private facilities,
      other senior & recreation facilities
-  Socials – for example the St Patrick’s Day lunch, murder mystery theatre, the
      annual summer picnic in Stanley Park
-  Workshops – for example the Scam & Fraud Prevention Workshop
-  Weekly Drop-in Programs – for example alterations & mending; internet &
      computer club; carpet bowling; GOH & Janggi (Japanese & Korean board
      games); Mahjong, bridge, internet club & typing service, fun & fitness, Tai
      Chi
-  Daily activities – like ping-pong, puzzles, chess

Medical services:
-  a podiatrist visits once a month
-  blood pressure checks every first & third Monday of the month 10am – 12pm

Radio show:
-  a ½ hour show for seniors each week called the 411 Seniors Radio Show on Co
      -op Radio (102.7 FM) every Thursday at 2pm.

Information & Referral:
-  In House counsellors to help you find & access services, provide info, help
      you complete forms & applications, make referrals
    -  information on such things as the BC Medical Plan, long-term care, Pharmacare, dental care, and more
