ISSUE #2: Saturday June 11, 2011 -- Poetry

Many thanks to our first contributors and their beautiful poetry. Thanks to Seramonial, and Derek. [The Editors]

The Stream Too Wide
Sometimes the stream is too wide
And the river too deep
And when you are halfway across
You can see the other side getting close
Yet the undertow
Pulls you down
And you decide not to try the river
Not to brave its raging torrent
But how do you get to the other side
What do you risk
When the status quo is not good enough
What do I do?
Do I swim underwater
And let the river cast me on the other side
Far downstream
What if I want to get to the other side
Sooner than it would take to build a bridge
If there is no bridge already there
Maybe grab a log –
Or a few logs to make a raft
And cling to it
All the while kicking with my feet
Like a little kid having a tantrum
A little tantrum maybe all you need

I MOURNED FOR YOU WITHOUT MOURNING
I mourned for you without mourning
By getting drunk and laughing when hearing of your death

I grieved for you without grieving
Not with my tears, but the absences of them

I hated you without hating
Because I saw how hate lives

I forgave you without forgiving
Because It was to hard to forget

I watched you without watching
because I was to scared to be seen

I listened to you without listening
So some good thing could be preserved

I excused you by not excusing
The behavior you once served

I disowned you without disowning...

Because in my heart, you’ll always live
Under the shades of tomorrow
Forever a slave to your sins
